Train With Us

Piscataqua Obedience Club (POC) is a non-profit dog training club dedicated to fostering and deepening the relationship between dogs and their owners. Based in southern Maine and seacoast New Hampshire, we offer a variety of basic and competition level classes at our training center in Kittery, ME.
We welcome purebreds, mixed breeds, rescue dogs, puppies, seniors, and everyone in between to our classes. Our certified instructors use motivational training techniques that emphasize kind, positive treatment.
Club Activities
POC dog club members bring their dogs to nursing homes and to elementary or secondary schools for visits and demonstrations. We also do other demonstrations that may include drill team obedience work, flyball, dock dogs, scent hurdles, agility, and games. Club members work with their dogs in AKC/CKC/UKC obedience and rally, tracking, carting, herding, hunting, conformation showing, K-9 scentwork, pet-assisted therapy work, and other activities.
Our annual fun match takes place each June and is open to the public. The match features AKC/CKC/UKC obedience, AKC rally, and AKC Canine Good Citizen testing. When possible, we also offer TDI (Therapy Dogs International) testing.
We also participate in a number of events in the community, including:
- Obedience and Rally trials at the Southern Maine Coastal Cluster dog shows in Scarborough, ME
- York Days celebrations in York Beach, ME
- Alfred Festival Days
- Newfie Fun Days in Eliot, ME
- Urban Forestry Center's Festival of Trees in Portsmouth, NH
- Town of Wells, ME Christmas Parade
- Town of Kittery Christmas Parade
POC also sponsors the Maine Coast Runners flyball team and helps to host its annual tournament in Dover, NH each spring.
